Wishing you all...

a Happy and safe new year. Today is my little boy's 6th birthday. I can't believe he is already 6. Seems like only yesterday I was spending New Year's Eve in the hospital gazing at his precious new face for the very first time. I knew right then that my New Year's celebrations would always consist of celebrating his life. I took it a step further and made it a point to reflect on the blessings in my life. I've challenged myself to see this day - and everyday - as a gift. I pray you will also choose to see life as a gift, and not so much for yourself, but for others. A gift...meant to be given away.

Happy Halloween:)

Have a safe and happy time trick-or-treating tomorrow. This is a pic of my sister and myself. It's from our school party yesterday. I borrowed my daughter's bee wings and antennas and then I duck taped a yellow shirt. LOL! Hey, when you only have 20 minutes before school to throw something together, that's what happens!

Living large:)

Sam and I went to a MWF match last night. If you've never heard of it, it stands for MicroWrestling Federation (yeah, midget wrestling)!! Hubby thought it would be fun - and he was right. LOL I think this is the first time - ever in my life - I have been in a room full of grown-ups and felt TALL! HAHAHA! There were 6 "little" wrestlers. These guys put on a great show:) Yes, it's random and completely out of the ordinary - and so am I!

Tuesday's Challenge 9-22-09

Hi friend:) Today I challenge you to find the good in your situation. Yesterday I was totally bummed because I was so busy, I only got to see my kids for 35 minutes all day:( I felt down about it and like I had pushed my kids aside while I took over other responsibilities. That isn't true. Sometimes life gets in the way and we have to find the good in a hard situation.
1. My kids got some much needed Daddy time.
2. My kids know they are loved.
3. I was able to be there for others who needed me.
I challenge you to count it all joy today. Whenever something negative comes your way, stop and find something good in the situation.

Tuesday's Challenge 9-15-09

Hello friend! It's time for another Tuesday Challenge:) This week I challenge you to add an encouraging quote to your blog. It can be anything from anywhere, just something that is positive! Let me know what you find!
Here is mine: From the Bible, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phillipians 4:13

Tuesday's Challenge 9-8-09

Today my little guy is home from school...11 days into Kindergarten and he has an ear infection. How often do we take for granted our health and that of our loved ones? Today, join me in taking a moment to count your blessings. Of course we could never count them all, but take time to be thankful for the "little" things, the things we just assume will always be - those are usually the greatest blessings of all.

Enjoy!!

Tuesday's Challenge 9-1-09

Hello friends! It's already Tuesday again:) If time flew by any faster, I would need a jet pack to try to keep up! This week I challenge you to provide a meal for someone. This can be taking your elderly neighbor a plate of spaghetti (afterall, you have to make it in bulk anyway!) or have a pizza sent to a friend, whatever you choose will surely be a blessing. The point of this mission is to feed someone's tummy and you feed their soul. I am making chicken spaghetti tonight and sending over enough for a busy mama of three. Share your journey with me!

Big day

For the past 10 years, all I have known is motherhood. Today is the day I never wanted to come. My baby started Kindergarten today. I can't explain the emotion that has run through my veins today...it's a mixture of pride, caution and sadness all in one. I'm so very proud of my children, I take great pride in them...to me, they are my most prized possession. Now life will take a new direction for me, one I always wanted to avoid. Nevertheless, as I tucked them into bed last night and prayed with them, I gave them an extra squeeze and thanked the Lord for the wonderful opportunity to invest in their first 5 years - with no regrets. I became the designated hugger at school this morning:) I walked around and hugged mama's who needed to know it was ok...eventhough inside I was kicking and screaming...I was so proud of my son for walking in to a strange place and immediately being so confident. He assured me that he loved me and gave me the "thumbs up" as he walked away...as if he knew he needed to console ME! So here is to all you mama's who have dedicated your life to prepare your child(ren) to take on the world. You've done a great job, mama!

Take me out...

to the ballgame! Sam and I (and a friend of his) took the kids to see the Texas Rangers play baseball yesterday. Sam and Austin went last year, but this was mine and Brook's first time to watch a major league game. It was a ton of fun and we are already looking forward to next time:)

Tuesday's Thoughtful Challenge #2

The first challenge must have been a difficult one. Only two responses! I will make your second challenge a bit easier. Call an old friend or someone you haven't talked to in a long time. They've probably been on your mind, but you "just haven't had the time". Do that this week, let them know you are thinking about them:) Remember, these challenges are to build us up as we build up others. Respond to this thread when you've accomplished your task!

Tuesday's Thoughtful Challenge #1

Hello there! I am going to try to challenge you every Tuesday. Each week there will be a different, simple challenge - however, this is not a scrapping challenge, but a challenge to better yourself. A challenge to live a life of purpose. Today is your first challenge.
I challenge you to find someone who is in need. This could be someone who is having trouble crossing the street , someone who needs to go ahead of you in the grocery line, or even someone who just needs a hug. We are surrounded by hurting people. Be sensitive to those around you and be their angel today:) There is no act of kindness that is too small. When you complete your mission, come back here and let us know how you are affecting your world! I look forward to hearing your story.

Hello:)

Just wanted to let you all know that you mean so much to me. I know many of you have been prayer warriors for me this week and I thank God that He listens and cares...and I thank Him for friends like you. Not to scare anyone, but I had a major surgery Wednesday. Without going into any details, I want you to know that it was a good thing and though I elected to have it done, it was necessary. Thank you all for hanging in there with me. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you mean the world to me and I pray God's richest blessings on you and your precious family. I am very limited to what I can and can't do right now, but I thank God for His goodness and mercy. I'd love to hear from you, I know it would brighten my day:)

Happy Tuesday!

Yep, it's my birthday:)) Hubby surprised me with a NEW LAPTOP yesterday! Not only that, but my family spent the day together. We ate at a popular Mexican food place, went shopping and even watched the new Ice Age 3 movie. I have a great attitude about what the coming year will bring. I'm at peace with the world and love this stage in my life. I'm looking forward to great things:)
I pray you, too, will find this a great year. I'm so glad you are in my life:)

Welcome sign

I found this kit at convention last month. Though the chipboard shapes were pre-cut, it was still pretty time consuming. It's hanging by my front door right now, but it won't be there for long. I'm afraid the weather will be to harsh on it.

Texas Retreat

Here we are, our first scrapbook friends retreat. There were 7 of us who met from all over the country for the very first time. I am so blessed to call these girls friends. I cannot even begin to tell you how absolutely amazing each of these girls are - online and in person. My life is more beautiful because they are in it. If you want to join in on the fun, memories and of course, pictures (I'm talking 1000 between all of us, that's no exaggeration either) then head over to Have Your Way With Paper and join our message board. You will quickly find that this scrapbooking board is unique. We are real people with big hearts, true stories and tons of love. You matter.

Thank you for taking time away from your families to meet up. My tummy still hurts from all the laughter and my heart is full from the extra dose of love. You all mean the world to me and I love you:)

Greetings!

Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your week. We've had a ton of sunshine this week, but today it decided to storm - that's ok, I didn't want to water my yard this evening anyway! I can hardly sit still today - my sister and I are leaving early Thursday morning to head to Arlington for a few days. We are meeting up with some of our online scrap sisters who we have "known" for a long time and are finally going to get to hug necks!!! We will be going to the Great American Scrapbook Convention together on Friday. Talk about HEAVEN! Great friends and NEW scrappy supplies! I can already hear the angels singing...
I'm sure I will overload my blog with pictures of my highly anticipated trip - we've been planning this trip for about 9 months!! Needless to say, I won't be back on until then. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I hope to hear from you soon:) Blessings friends!

Flowers for you!

Ok girls! I planted my first flower bed this year. It was a ton of work (still is) but I'm proud that I did it by myself:) I'm sure it will be a chore keeping up with it thru the hot Texas heat! I have to admit though, I love the warm summers and the time lounging by a pool with the kids without a care in the world. I don't know about you, but I always love getting flowers. My favorite kind are scrappy flowers:) They last much longer than live ones;) So here's the deal: I'm offering up these flowers as a RAK (random act of kindness). All you have to do is post to this thread and tell me what you love about SUMMER. I will put everyone's names into a drawing and pick someone Friday! Let me hear from you!

One proud Mama!

Brooklyn had her awards ceremony at school this morning. I haven't been able to make many this year because of my work schedule (they are always held in the morning). Well Austin and I went today and let me just say....I am so proud of that girl! She was the most decorated student there. She got awards for "Triple A" which means straight A's all year long. She received her UIL medal from Ready Writing - she placed second in the district - the only child at school who placed (individually). She placed fourth in the school's reading program - which means she read like 58 books this year (again). The only thing she didn't get recognized for was Perfect Attendance and that's because she missed ONE day...but that's ok. The other awards are far more impressive to me. I just sat there with tears in my eyes everytime they called her name. What a blessing this child is; she is so well rounded. Thanks for letting me gloat:)

Sunday, May 24, 2009

Hi there!

This is Brook's last week of school so it will be busy busy for us - with track meets, field trips, talent shows and parties, we still have to fit in gymnastics and ballet. She had a rough start to the year; so many changes overwhelmed her, but she is a tough girl and has continued to impress us with making wise decisions and her compassionate heart. Austin is ready for her to get out for a couple of months. They love each other so much, it makes a mama proud. He has his last art lesson of the year tomorrow. He will really miss that, but with such a full schedule this summer we won't have time for art until school starts back. The rain has continued to fall, which is strange for us this time of year. It's been wonderful to actually get a SPRING this year. We usually go from winter to summer in a matter of days. There are only 10 days until the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington! YAY! If that isn't treat enough, Jenny and I are meeting 6 of our online friends from all over and for three days there will be laughter, shopping at convention together, laughter, food, laughter, hugs and more laughter. We've been waiting for this for MONTHS and I didn't think it would ever get here...and finally here it is! I hope you all enjoy a blessed week!

Roll Call!!!

Ok, it's quiet around here. Who's with me? Let me hear from ya so that I know I'm not all alone in the world of blog!

SUNday news:

Hello friends!
Today is a beautiful day:) We've had some severe storms and rain over the past few days. Though we've desperately needed the rain, I'm glad to see the sun shining again today. I managed to get a couple of scrappy projects done over the weekend - including adding some new sketched to my slideshow - so that feels good. This is my last week of school for the year. Austin graduates from Pre-K on Wednesday - break a mama's heart; my baby starts Kindergarten in just a few months. My big girl will be headed to the 5th grade - GASP! Where does time go?
Anyway, I hope you all have a bright sun shiny day:)

I've been a fool...

A SCRAPPIN' FOOL! I got THREE pages done yesterday AND finished one I started the day before - woot woot! That NEVER happens in a days time so I was feeling guuud:) Especially since I worked til noon, did laundry, cooked dinner and taxi'd Brook around to practices after school too. I'll be updating my slide show soon:) Have a beautiful day!

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Rain!

We have a chance everyday this week for rain! OHHH we sooo need it. We are still under a burn ban because of the dry conditions. I've made a few new pages and I need to add them to my slide show soon. Maybe I can work on that in a day or two. Have a beautiful week!

Friday, April 17, 2009

It's Friday!

Happy Friday to ya! We had a very severe storm blow in early this morning. High winds knocked out most of the power to the North side of town - not so fun when you have to get kids ready for school in the dark! We never lost power, but Jenny (my sister) called me at 7:30 this morning and hers was out.
Yesterday, Jenny and I worked overtime yesterday. I had this brilliant idea to paint the church nursery - I'm so glad she showed up or I would still be there. I have blisters on my hands this morning LOL! That took up 8 hours of my day yesterday and then it left me 30 minutes to get the kids home to Dad and I was back out the door to teach aerobics - we ended up just walking a couple of miles.
SO, I hope today will be a low key day. Brook has a school social after lunch. I'm in charge of that, and then Austin has a t-ball game this afternoon - if the weather permits. So we'll see:) I hope you get a good headstart on your weekend!

Monday, April 13, 2009

Happy Monday!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...ok it's a bit chilly this morning, but I'm optimistic! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful Easter - I was a little aprehensive, the weather man talked like there would be a flood, but after the early morning showers, the sun came out and it proved to be a wonderful day. I got to spend it with some of the most important people in my life and everyone was happy and healthy - what more is there?

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Thank you!

There were four of you who made the deadline for sketch challenge #1. I've made a slideshow to show your fantastic work, and as promised, I am drawing a name out of a bowl right now....the name....I am drawing.....is.......ROE! Blessed

Today was an emotional day as Mom and I went to Wichita Falls to a funeral of a family friend. As I looked around, I saw so many familiar faces, but it had been years since I had seen most of them so I wasn't positive about anyone! It's crazy how you "remember" silly things, being a part of someone's story and then you look up - some 20 years later - and everyone is grown with kids of their own. They have their own stories and their own lives - and you are no longer a part of their world, only a part of their history. If today doesn't speak volumes as to why I am passionate about scrapbooking, then I could never explain it. My goal is to leave my stories, the big ones and the little ones, the happy ones and the not-so happy ones, the daily moments that distinguish who I am and from whence I came. I'm so incredibly blessed and I could never put into words the gratitude I feel for every single individual who has crossed my path...that includes you. Have a blessed day.

Monday, March 30, 2009

OH YEAH BABY!

I KNEW it! It was a wonderful day:) Started out with a good hair day - that always determines the rest of the day. LOL! Went to school. March is Dr. Seuss' birthday so we celebrated with green eggs and ham - YUM. Everyone got a big kick out of that. Came home, made lunch, ate, got Austin off to art class for an hour, ran errands like a mad woman during that hour. Picked Austin up, came home, and found I had AN AWESOME package waiting from my secret bunny!!!! Did some laundry, made a cheesecake for a friend, picked up Brook, she presented me with her new Spring school pictures - I SMELL A PAGE COMING ON:) Took her to gymnastics, picked her up, took her to ballet, made dinner, picked her up, ate dinner, played outside, went to the track and put in a couple of miles and 10 sets of bleachers. Now everyone is bathed and in bed and I'm off to watch a movie with hubby. Phew! Goodnight.

I can feel it!

It's going to be a great day! Yesterday was full of excitement. We found out that Brooklyn's Fallow Deer hunt will be airing on the Sportsman's Outdoor channel in JUNE! We were thinking October so that was a nice surprise. I'll let you know the details as I get them;) Also, Austin harvested his first animal yesterday! He took this GOLD METAL Corsican Ram at the same ranch Brook took her Fallow. He's going to give Brook a run for her money! Not bad for a 5 year old, eh?

And just like that

another weekend has come and gone. It's been so stinkin' busy around here! This weekend was so full of cleaning, working, church and bday parties that I don't even remember much of it! I just want to scrap, is that too much to ask??

BRRRR!

I can't believe this. I got "pink" yesterday on my legs from the warm 85 degree sunshine and today - there's a chance of SNOW??? I've got the heater cranked up and am ready to crawl into bed. The house contractor cut my phone line yesterday and I've been without internet/phone all morning. So let's re-cap: too cold to go outside, no phone or internet...talk about stir crazy! I'm hoping for some happy scrappy time tomorrow:) It's been a scrappy week and it feels greeeaatttuh!
Enjoy your weekend:)

Work out day

Thursday's are aerobics day. I look forward to this night every week:) I worked this morning, went to lunch - ate too much Mexican food so yes, I need to work out tonight! Then I finished a page I started yesterday. YAY!

Wow it's already Wednesday!

I can't believe the week is already half over. Where'd it go?? I got a total of 3 pages scrapped yesterday:) It was a good day! Wonder how many I can fit into today?? With the rain falling outside, it sure gives me a good excuse to stay in:)

Monday Monday

It's time for another week. Spring Break has come and gone and now it's back to schedules and alarm clocks. I taught this morning, my little class had a hard time getting back in the swing of things too. Today is crazy busy. Austin starts his first year of T-ball:) He has practice at 6, Brooklyn has gymnastics at 4:30 and ballet at 6:15. I'm getting my very first taste of both kids in extracurricular activities today. Wish me well!

Useless...

that's how I feel today! After church, I was just beat so I laid down "for a minute" and woke up 2 hours later - WOW! I never take naps anymore so this was a treat. The sky is cloudy and the wind is loud. I guess it made me feel like going back to bed. LOL! I hope YOU got something done today because I DID NOT!

PHEW! I am POOPED! I didn't get to bed til early this morning and then I was up by 6 to start my garage sale. It went really well - especially for a last minute deal:) It's been a long, but productive day. I have some serious scrap fever so I hope to make out with my supplies tomorrow after church! To be continued...
